Improving forest gamebird stocks
Dense undergrowth is important to many forest animals. Forest gamebirds' breeding success is also dependent on undergrowth, because newborn chicks need the protection and food it provides. Drainage ditches and clearcuts also reduce forest gamebird populations. Continuous Cover Forestry management inherently alleviates these problems, but your Forest Management Plan can also be targeted to further maximise the well-being of gamebirds.

Innofor's forest gamebird management plan leaves specific types of undergrowth and deciduous trees for hazelhens. We gather available information on the territories and display grounds of black grouse, capercaillie and willow grouse in the area and take it into account when logging. For capercaillie we also carry out regional evaluations, as the birds' territories usually exceed the borders of individual forest holdings.
